What is the Japanese MEXT Scholarship?
The Ministry of Education, Culture, Science, Sports, and Technology of Japan, or Monbukagakusho, the official government scholarship organization in Japan, offers fully-funded annual scholarships to support international students studying at Japan's top universities.
The Japanese scholarship is essentially an exchange program for all those interested in studying at Japanese universities. Therefore, there are no differences in the application process for any type of scholarship in Japan.

شروط القبول في منحة اليابان 2026
Applicants for the Japanese Government Scholarship must meet certain basic criteria set by the MEXT Scholarship Authority in Japan, which require:
1- Preparing a recommendation from the Japanese embassy or consulate for the admission of accepted students.
2- The student must receive a recommendation and be accepted to study at a Japanese university.
3- The admission application must be submitted to the Japanese embassy in the student’s country.
4- Submitting an application to various Japanese colleges and universities.
Documents required for the Japanese Government Scholarship:
للتقديم على منحة MEXT 2026 اليابانية الممولة بالكامل للطلاب الدوليين، يحتاج المرشح إلى تجهيز الأوراق والمستندات التالية:
- Application form.
- Letter of recommendation.
- Health certificate.
- Research Plan (applies to research students only).
- Message summary (if any).
- Academic qualification, attached with high school grades: ( Matric/O Levels, certified copy ).
- Academic qualification and high school grades: ( Average/A, certified copy )
- A certified and authenticated copy of the student’s transcript of enrollment from the current educational institution (if applicable)
Note:
- In any case, submitted documents cannot be retrieved.
- The application must be clear and printed on A4 paper.
- Documents and certificates other than those mentioned above will definitely not be considered.
- Good knowledge of Japanese language, and for obtaining IELTS/TOEFL is not mandatory. .
Eligibility Criteria for MEXT Scholarship

Apply for the Japanese MEXT Scholarship
Dear candidate, you first need to know that you can only submit your application for all Japanese government scholarships through the consulate or embassy in your country. Simply contact them, or the Japanese department of the university or college where you wish to pursue your academic studies, to obtain a recommendation.
After receiving your application, the Japanese Embassy and consular offices abroad will review the submitted information. You can contact them directly to obtain any information you may need during the application process, or to learn specific instructions to increase your chances of being accepted for the scholarship. This can be done by following the following steps:
- Schedule an appointment for a direct interview with the embassy immediately.
- Contact the embassy to learn more about all additional requirements.
- The candidate must appear in person at the embassy or consulate on the specified date, bringing the necessary documents and requirements.

To reach the Japanese Embassy or Consulate in your country, you need:
1- Visit the following link and search for your country’s region, then you can enter it in the list.
2- Visit the link for your country’s consulate, then go to the “Culture and Education” tab in the menu.
3- The “Japanese Embassies” tab will appear directly. Log in and follow the specific instructions and guidelines, which vary from one country to another.
